Gal/Valentines

I am not anti-Valentine's Day. I am single. I am sometimes bitter about said singleness, but I am no hater of Cupid and chocolates. I am actually excited about Valentine's Day this year because...I'm a middle school teacher and I cannot WAIT for all the drama to hit the halls Friday. I see lots of carnations and Frozen valentines in the near future. In all realness however, I have a Valentine this year. We've been together for 2 years actually so it's getting pret-ty serious. It's Netflix (Okay did I say "realness" because I meant HAHA YOU GUYS).

Anyhoo.

I'm also a big supporter of Galentine's Day. Galentine's Day, for those not in the Parks & Rec bubble (GET ON THAT, btw) is a day to celebrate your best gal pals. I am going to make an effort to send out some galentines to some of my besties this week and spread the love. Sometimes a card and some candy is all it takes to brighten someone's otherwise day of gloom (We're all in this together, yo)

What are your Valentine's Day plans this year?

Groundhog Day

I've been living the blogger's version of Groundhog Day, which is "Oh I should really blog today oh wait look a squirrel and it's time for dinner and good night see you tomorrow" Wash, rinse, repeat.

But I saw my shadow this morning so that means I'm back at it. GOOD DAY, SIR.

In case you think that blogging is the only neglected child in my life, I can assure you that it is not. Just ask the DVR. It is LOADED with dust. I am about 3 weeks behind on "Downton Abbey", a month behind on "About A Boy", ALL THE DAYS behind on the new (now complete) miniseries "Sons of Liberty" and that's not even counting what's on Netflix. I wish I could say that this First World Problem was a result of my Living Life Outside but it's mostly the result of School. Womp womp.

I did crawl out of the hole from which I have been learning to attend a FABULOUS Texas-themed party for my friend who is moving to Dallas in a few short hours. Beers were consumed, a Trivia Crack addiction was formed, and laughs were abundant.

Promises, promises...I will find my blogging mojo again soon. Maybe Punxsutawney Phil is hiding it.

xoxo

Fitness Friday

Holllllla, it's Friday, and you know what that means. It's time for me to pretend to be an organized blogger and bless you with another blast of fitness.

Today's post is all about what I'm grooooooving to right now. I made a quick playlist on my phone last week before I hit the pavement and, I'll admit I did a little prancercising because it was just so punchy. I don't really have a genre that I stick to when I am picking a workout playlist...I like a mix of supercharged upbeat Pop, slowish stuff, and some R&B or rap. This playlist was just a combination of whatever was already on my phone but it got the job done. Here is a little track-by-track explanation of my current sweat soundtrack.

1. Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars) I MEAN DUH. This song was MADE for working out. I am obsessed with it and have watched the video 20394 times. I love throwbacks!
2. M.F.P.O.T.Y. (Cher Lloyd) Cher is a bossy betch and I love her for it. This song is, erhm, not suitable for little ears but it will make you WERK, HONEY.
3. Salute (Little Mix) I could probably write a post about my obsession with Little Mix because, oh man. These chicks are the ultimate in girl power pop. They are SO talented and SO adorable. It also helps fuel my 1D obsession because Perrie, my fave, is engaged to Zayn. Talk about a match made in the Brit Pop stars.
4. Move (Little Mix) See above for the full gush report. I will add that I have tried to learn the dance they do in this video and well...anyway. A dancer I am not.
5, 6, 7, 8. Steal My Girl, Girl Almighty, No Control, Change Your Ticket (1D) Presented without comment
9. House Party (Sam Hunt) Sam Hunt is the sun. I cannot stare directly at him or I will be blinded and lose all focus. His debut album is awesome and provides a bit of running relief. Run like Sam Hunt is standing at the finish line. RUN.
10. Single for the Summer (Sam Hunt) Story of my life (HEY SAM)
11. Spice Up Your Life (Spice Girls) More Brits, because duh.
12, 13, 14, 15. Blank Space, Style, Out of the Woods, I Know Places (T. Swizzle) Tay Tay and I have a love hate relationship. I hate that she wears so many crop tops but I love that I may be able to wear one soon if I run to her music.

End of the playlist/AKA sometimes I quit before I get to this point...Natural Disaster, At or With Me, Gotta Get Away, Treasure (also on my wedding reception playlist but that is a post for another day) Here We Go Again, Finest Hour.

So there you have it. If you ever see me dancing down the sidewalk you'll understand why. I am ALWAYS on the prowl for new music, especially for workouts, so if you want to share your faves please  email me at doesthiscomeinleopard{at}gmail{dot}com or comment beloooooow.

Happy Weekend and happy listening!

Golden Globes

On a Sunday evening in January, I gather on the interwebz with all my other basic blogging betches to live tweet the Golden Globes. All my virtual and real life besties join in and we have a gay old time gabbing about FASHION. (Also: my imaginary besties Tina and Amy SLAYED as usual). Here are my favorite looks from last night in no particular order because I'm indecisive)!

You Gotta Lose to Win

On a total whim (aka, after mentally pro/con-ing it for several hours and getting talked into it by my mom) I signed up for our school's Biggest Loser competition (see Resolnotions post for the motivation). Basically everyone that wants to participate kicks in $20, and 2 winners split the pot. There will be a midpoint winner chosen before Spring Break and an overall winner in May. We are measuring loss by percentage of weight so it's more fair. I am pretty pumped! Today we get our starting weights (luckily only the facilitator sees our gruesome numerals) and we will be checking in very Friday. While I'm not down to throw my weight out into the interwebz I am more than happy to share my (hopefully contest winning) losses with y'all. Consider "Fitness Friday"'officially a-go. Next week I'll share my first 7 days on the plan as well as one of my favorite weight loss tips (fun fact: my iPad just auto corrected tips to tipsy which is how I would like to feel during weigh-in. Sigh)

Yours in fat fee butter and egg whites,

Resolnotions

Resolutions aren't really my bag. Every year I set them and every year I break them or give up sometime before the middle of January. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit which makes sense because I spend about 21 days screwing them up until they're donezo. More like resolnotions.

Goal setting is fun and essential for success. Sometimes I think putting the "resolution" label on goals is the kiss of death. Maybe we should just embrace the cynic in all of us and flip the script on resolnotions and say NO to the old shiz of the past.

So here's my annual list of "Things I want to do or stop doing or think might be positive but are definitively not resolutions so no pressure or anything okay bye"

1. Read more, and no, iPad screens don't count
2. Be consistent and intentional
3. Don't be an ass. Seriously. Face palm so hard all the time. Think before I speak. Or just think at all.
4. Decrease size of said ass (and thighs, and stomach)
5. Avoid WebMD for real this time (see No. 1)
6. Get out of my own headspace
7. Get out period. Do really, go do something.

Do y'all make resolutions? What's on your docket for 2015?!

Reincarnation

You may know me from my previous life at Plan Acourtingly, or perhaps you were scouring the interwebs for something in a nice leopard fabric and stumbled onto this (Sorry about that, by the way). Either way, welcome. Stay a while and have a couple cocktails.

How did I get here? I missed my exit. I thought my blogging days were over, just like I thought Birkenstocks would never make a come back but, alas. I'm hoping this new space will charge my creative batteries and get me back on track. Homegirl needs a hobby.

If you're new here, or you just like to read random personal traits, here's a little bit of me:

See anything you like? Welcome aboard.

There may be prizes.
There will be leopard print.
And also glitter.
